About Me
Hi, I’m David.
I’m a clinical psychologist.
Before training in psychology, I studied jazz at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and worked as a professional musician.
Performing taught me a lot about listening. I find the best music is made when each musician is listening carefully to what the other is doing, moment by moment, and reacting accordingly.
The same is certainly true in therapy. Research consistently shows that the therapeutic relationship is the most significant predictor of therapy outcome, and this relationship is built upon a foundation of carefully attuned listening, empathy, and warmth.
I utilise a number of evidence-based approaches, including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and short term psychodynamic therapies. Ultimately, therapy is aimed at developing a deeper understanding of you as an individual and how you operate in the world, so that you can use that understanding to make important changes and overcome difficult obstacles.
I am a member of the Australian Clinical Psychology Association (ACPA).
I also conduct therapy at Psyc Spot Psychology Clinic in Rosebery.
